Our Approach

Projects can sometimes seem rather complex. We've produced this simple guide to show you how we approach project, help you understand the stages and some of the factors involved.

Definition

(Stage 0)

This is where we’ll have a conversation with you, or sign post you to our online content or pricing guide the aim being:

  • Outline your requirements

  • Define your budget

  • Offer some preliminary guidance or advice on how your requirements could be achieved and how your requirements fit with your budget.

Survey

(Stage 1)

If following stage 0,  you and we agree that the project is likely to be feasible and you’re happy to continue, we’ll carry out a survey either on site or as a desktop study depending on the project.

This is the start of the project

  • Review any existing installation or systems

  • We review any existing installation or systems that might have a bearing on the proposed project.

  • Take any relevant measurements and photos of the existing infrastructure

  • Take any relevant measurements and photos of the proposed project.

  • Review proposed equipment and installation locations with you

Concept

(Stage 2)

Following the surveys we’ll develop the concept design for the project. We’ll discuss this with you at varying key points as we progress before we present the proposal and guide price.

  • This is the preliminary outlines of the solution

  • Review how the solutions fits the requirements and the budget

  • Allow for any alterations to the guidance from stage 0 following the surveys.

  • Governing bodies or classification societies may be involved at this stage

Detailed Design

(Stage 3)

By this stage, the outline plan is in place, you have a good idea of the solution being provided and the budget for that solution.

We start the detailed design process where we ‘put some flesh on the bones’ or add the technical detail including specifying equipment, components and installation methods.

  • Technical details are specified & agreed

  • Designs are finalised & agreed

  • Some of this will be us specifying the equipment and design needed, some will be you deciding on final finishes such as wiring accessories and layouts.

  • Budgets are checked and clarified based on equipment selected

  • Governing bodies or classification societies may be involved at this stage

Construction and Implementation

(Stage 4)

This is where you start to see the results of the hard work so far.

We begin the installation or construction of your project.

  • From first fix to second fix and testing

  • Installation of equipment and accessories to the agreed designs

  • This stage requires careful coordination between other trades and suppliers

  • Governing bodies or classification societies may be involved at his stage

Handover

(Stage 5)

The hard work is complete and we hand the project over to you.

We compile a hand over package to provide to you.

  • Certification where required is signed and handed to you/submitted to governing bodies and classification societies where relevant

  • A familiariseation may be carried out with you if required as part of the project

  • Any relevant drawings, datasheets and manuals are handed over to you

  • Contact details for troubleshooting, warranty and any other requirements will be included in the hand over pack

  • And user names, accounts and passwords will be handed over where relevant.

Continued Support

(Stage 6)

The project has technically ended at stage 5. But our involvement with you doesn’t end there, we’re always on hand if you need anything more. We can provide support and maintenance going forward on a scale that suits you

  • Service level agreements

  • Ongoing active monitoring

  • Call out basis service

  • Further upgrades or alterations
